Science World is coming to Pemberton!

On Thursday January 12, 2012, Signal Hill Elementary School will host Science World “A Night of Family Science”.

Through the support of the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism, and Innovation, Science World is able to offer the “Night of Family Science” in select communities around the province.  In the 2010-11 school year Science World presented 8 of these free family events at schools all around the province from Dawson Creek to Haida Gwaii.  Signal Hill Elementary PAC is excited to announce that we have been selected to be part of the 2011-2012 tour!

The Night of Family Science is a FREE family evening open to the public.  Science World will be presenting some of their spectacular demonstration shows and providing fun make and take activities that people can build and experiment with.   There are also one on one activities for people to try and a paper airplane contest to let visitors explore their engineering skills.

Details:  The event will be held in the Signal Hill Elementary Gymnasium on Thursday January 12, 2011 from 6pm – 9pm.  PAC will be recruiting volunteers to help with the event.  If you are interested in helping out, please let us know.

Students at Signal Hill Elementary will also be participating in a FREE Science Show called “Extra Sensory Science” in the afternoon on January 12th.  Geared towards students in grades K – 7, the presentation takes a look at the amazing science we can observe with our five senses. Dynamic experiments explore sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste.
Demonstrations include: eye-popping optical illusions, an explosive miniature cannon, and a tongue-twisting game of Jellybean Roulette where you never know what you might taste.

Thank you Science World!
